The Republic of Korea A defeated Thailand to snatch both championship titles of the men’s and women’s team events at the 23rd HCM City Golden Racket International Table Tennis Tournament on July 17.

In the final of the men’s team event, world no.75 Cho Eon Rae from the RoK quickly beat Thailand’s Phuchong Sanguansin 3-1 ((11/4, 11/9, 8/11, 12/10). In the next matches, Tea Hoon and Choi Ki Chan defeated Phakpoom Sanguansin and Chaitat respectively to help the RoK A successfully defend their championship title. Vietnam and East Kobe co-shared the third position.

The Republic of Korea A also beat Thailand 3-0 in the final of the women’s team event. After a 3-0 loss of the Thai No.1 player Nanthana to Choi Moon Young, the two other Thai players Anisara and Sangpao could not do anything to prevent their losses to Eun Hee and Hye Yin respectively from the Republic of Korea. Japan A and Japan B co-shared bronzes in this event.

Matches in the men’s and women’s singles, doubles, mixed doubles events also started yesterday. Vietnam had two representatives in the semi-finals: Duo Nam Hai/Tuan Quynh in the men’s doubles and Nam Hai/Mai Trang in the mixed doubles event.
