T&T Hanoi Club’s goalkeeper Duong Hong Son has been voted as one of the best shot-stoppers in Asia by Goal.com, a popular website on world football.

After the Vietnamese national squad won the ASEAN Football Cup 2008 (AFF Cup), Hong Son was voted as the tournament’s Best Player. He also won the Golden Ball 2008 title of Vietnam.

This is the first time a Vietnamese goalkeeper honored as one of the best goalkeepers in Asia.

Goal.com writes about Hong Son: “Small for a goalkeeper but almost perfectly formed with a spring in his step and leap that others can only envy. Others may have got the goals that won Vietnam the ASEAN Cup last December, but there was a reason why Son was named the MVP of the tournament. Whatever else he does, he will forever be a hero in Vietnam”.

Hong Son didn’t play well in the first stage of V-League 2009 and his mistakes caused failures for T&T Hanoi. However, his team is now in the top three teams, proving the strong recovery of T&T Hanoi, with the contribution of goalkeeper Hong Son.

Several days ago, Vietnam’s Huynh Kesley and Vu Phong were named in the top 50 scorers of the world 2009.
