The meeting of sports delegation leaders to the third Asian Indoor Games (AIG 3) will take place in Hanoi and HCM City from August 26-31.

The meeting of sports delegation leaders is one of the most important meetings of AIG 3.

Senior officials of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism met with the AIG 3 organising board, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training, the National Olympic Committee and other related bodies on July 28 to discuss preparations for the meeting.

The National Olympic Committee and the AIG 3 Organising Board sent invitations to all countries and territories in early July, through the Asian Olympic Council. July 31 is the deadline for national Olympic committees to register for the meeting.

For international sports events, the meeting of delegation leaders is considered the “advanced party” of participating countries, so the meeting is important for the success of the AIG 3.

The Vietnam Olympic Committee’s Vice Chairman and Secretary General Hoang Vinh Giang said that by July 28, 37 countries and territories had confirmed their participation in the meeting. Eight countries like Palestine, North Korea and East Timor haven’t registered yet due to objective difficulties but they have affirmed they intend to participate in the AIG 3.

According to the organising board, the meeting will be held at the Hanoi Daewoo and HCM City Rex hotels. Around 150-170 international delegates from 45 countries and territories will also stay in the two hotels during their time in Vietnam.

Delegates will pay visits to Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, Quang Ninh and Hai Phong, which will host AIG 3 events.

Other important meetings of AIG 3 will include a coordinating meeting of the Olympic Committee of Asia (OCA) and member countries in early October in Hanoi and HCM City.

During the AIG 3 in Vietnam, from October 30 to November 8, there will be six meetings of delegate leaders in Hanoi and HCM City, meetings of OCA and parties organised by the AIG 3 organising board and authorities of cities hosting AIG 3 events.
