LookAtVietnam – After two days of competition, with 25 golds, 29 silvers and 34 bronzes, Vietnam ranked first at the Ho Chi Minh City Open Athletics Tournament.

The Republic of Korea stood second with seven golds, one silver and three bronzes, followed by Indonesia with four golds, five silvers and one bronzes.

Especially, in the final day of the tournament, on July 12, three Vietnamese athletes broke the national records. They were Nguyen Van Hung in the triple-jump event with 16m37, Thanh Truc in women’s 5,000m race event after clocking the time of 24’59’’22, Hoang Van Thiem in 10,000m race with the time of 46’36’’75.

The 2009 Ho Chi Minh City Athletics Tournament which kicked off on July 10 had attracted the participation of more than 500 athletes from 28 Vietnamese provinces and cities and five foreign teams, namely the Republic of Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore.
