Vietnamese seniors too good for compatriots

LookAtVietnam – A Vietnamese team beat its compatriots in a match on the first day of the 23rd Golden Paddle Open international table tennis tournament in HCM City’s Phan Dinh Phung Gymnasium.

Easy win: Hanoian Nam Hai, of Viet Nam, on the forehand against HCM City’s Tran Huy Bao during the 23rd Golden Paddle Open international table tennis tournament in HCM City. Hai won 3-0.

The team of senior players, Nguyen Nam Hai, Dinh Quang Linh and Phan Huy Hoang, easily beat the HCM City team of Tran Huy Bao, Nguyen Tien Dang Vu and Le Dinh Huy by 3-0.

The Viet Nam Youth team lost to South Korea 3-0 while the Vietnamese women’s team fell 2-3 to a Japanese team.

Top player Mai Hoang My Trang clinched two wins over Tomio Fuko and Tobinaga Aki but Mai Xuan Hang and Luong Thi Tam failed to win any games.

The HCM City team also lost 3-0 to the Korean team while the Viet Nam Youth team lost to Thailand, 3-0.

Tomorrow’s matches will determine the teams for the semi-finals.

The tournament has drawn nearly 100 table tennis players from Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, China and Viet Nam.
