Hai triumphs in discus throw

LookAtVietnam – Viet Nam remained third on the medal table after the fourth day of the ASEAN Para Games in Kuala Lumpur.
In athletics, Nguyen Thi Hai won the F58 discus final with a throw of 28.75m. She better her record of 26.54m, which she set in Korat, Thailand, last year. In the women’s long jump F46 final, Hoang Thi Tam, was second with a leap of 3.74m. Jiraporn Wongsuwan, of Thailand, won with a jump of 4.19m. Also yesterday, Ngo Thi Nhung was second in the women’s javelin F44 final, while Nguyen Huu Thinh filled the same spot in the men’s 200m T37 final. Nguyen Hong Giang was third in the women’s 200m T54 final in 36.10 seconds. Thailand took the gold and the Philippines the silver. Meanwhile, Dao Van Cuong pocketed a bronze medal in the men’s 200m T11 category. Vietnamese swimmers also did well yesterday. Vo Huynh Anh Khoa, who took two gold medals on Monday, won another in the men’s 50m butterfly S9 final. In the women’s 200m freestyle S9 final, Le Thi Dung won in 2:53.89, bettering her record of 2:59.43, which she set in Korat last January. May Rose Deveras, of the Philippines, pocketed the silver. In badminton, Pham Hoang Thang defeated Trinh Anh Tuan in an all-Vietnamese semi-final of the men’s BMSTL1 category. He faces Thai Subpong Meepian in today’s final. In the men’s singles semi-final of BMW2, Vo Van Phu beat Thai Chatchai Kornpeekanok 2-0 (21-17, 21-12). In the final, he will play Malaysian Zulkafli Mohd Shaari. The third semi-finalist for Viet Nam is Pham Duc Trung, who defeated Thai Somsak Kleebyeesun 2-0 in the men’s BMSTL2 class. His rival today will be Dwiyoko of Indonesia. Truong Ngoc Binh also promises at least a silver for Viet Nam as he secured a final berth in the men’s BMW3 event. His team-mate, Tran Minh Nhuan, also entered the final of the BMSTU4 pool to meet Tay Wei Ming of Singapore.
