The event attracts 100 athletes from six teams including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Tho, Bac Can, Hung Yen and Hai Phong.

The athletes are competing in individual and team events for men and women in 30m, 50m, 70m and 90m distance.

The tournament last year saw two national records by Dao Trong Kien from Hai Phong in the 90m one-stringed event with 300 points and Nguyen Tien Cuong from Hanoi in the 70m three-stringed event with 339 points. Hanoi topped the championship in 2008. They were followed by Hai Phong.

The 2009 National Youth Archery Tournament will last untill August 22.
