Pre-Asian Indoor Pencak Silat tourney opens in Hai Duong City; National Judo Championships to begin in Thanh Hoa City

The Pre-Asian Indoor Games Pencak Silat tournament opens today at Hai Duong City’s Gymnasium with the participation of more than 10 countries and territories in Asia.

Male and female competitors will take part in Seni (performance) and Tanding (combat) events.

The tournament is also an occasion for Hai Duong City’s sports officials to make preparations to organise the pencak silat event at the Asian Indoor Games 3, which the city will host in November.

In the first Asian Martial Arts Games in Bangkok, Vietnamese martial arts contestants won four gold medals, contributing to Viet Nam’s overall fourth place.

Viet Nam pencak silat is looking to win first place in the AIG 3.

National Judo Championships to begin in Thanh Hoa City

The National Judo Championships will open next Tuesday at Thanh Hoa City’s Gymnasium with the participation of more than 300 people from more than 25 provinces and cities nationwide.

Male and female judokas will compete in 16 categories in the four-day tournament.

The champions, the HCM City team, is expected to defend its title. However, Ha Noi, the Army, and Ben Tre and Dong Thap provinces are capable of springing a surprise.

During the last tournament, which was held in Dong Thap with 230 jukodas, HCM City won first place, with six gold, three silver and nine bronze medals.

Dong Thap placed second with five gold, one silver and one bronze medal, while Ben Tre finished third.
