Le Thi Phi Nga grabbed a gold in Pencak Silat.

August 7 was considered a ‘golden’ day for the Vietnamese team as they snatched five more golds at the on-going Asian Martial Arts Games in Bangkok, Thailand.

Four out of five golds of Vietnam went to Pencak Silat artists, namely Le Thi Hong Ngoan (women’s 65-70kg category), Huynh Thi Thu Hong (women’s 50-55kg category), Le Thi Phi Nga (women’s 45-50kg category) and Truong Van Mao (men’s 70-75kg category).

Kick-boxer Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai defeated Puntha from Thailand 3-0 to snatch the fifth golds for Vietnam yesterday.

Previously, Vietnam won two golds in teakwondo and wushu.

With seven golds, nine silvers and 17 bronzes, Vietnam ranks fourth in the medal tally. Thailand, Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea occupied the three top positions respectively.

The 1st Asian Martial Arts Games will last until August 9.
