A U19 squad not at full strength Saturday comfortably beat East Timor 3-1 in Group B match of the U19 Southeast Asian Championship at HCMC’s Thong Nhat Stadium.

With 2-0 and 3-1 wins over Malaysia and Myanmar on Tuesday and Thursday, Vietnam’s coach employed seven subs for the clash against East Timor.

The Vietnamese players gave the visitors a few chances but the home team coasted with little trouble.

Vietnam, who tops Group B by winning all three matches, will meet up with Group A’s second-placed Australia in the semis tomorrow at Thong Nhat Stadium for a berth in the finals.

In another Group B match, Malaysia beat Myanmar 2-0 to earn the second semifinal spot and will face Group A’s top team Thailand.
