Vietnam wins medals in first day of competition

Vietnam clinched one silver and two bronzes right in the first day of competition at the on-going Asian Martial Arts Games, held at Huamark indoor stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Vietnam participated in three events, namely Judo, Muay and Teakwondo in the opening day. Martial artist Van Ngoc Tu bagged a silver in Judo, 48kg category. The two bronzes went to Nguyen Quoc Hung in Judo, under-66kg category and Kim Thu in Taekwondo, 47kg category.

The first Asian Martial Arts Games 2009 attracts 1,500 athletes and officials from 40 countries and territories. Vietnam, with its high hope for golds, joins the nine-day Games with 99 athletes, competing in Karatedo, Judo, Pencak Silat, Taekwondo, Wushu, Kungfu, Muay ans Wrestling.
