Vietnam’s top striker to go to Portugal this August

Vinh called from Portugal on August 24 to announce that after a drill with reserve players of Leixoes, the club’s chairman invited Vinh to sign a short-term contract, without having to experience any health check-ups. Vinh said Leixoes didn’t check his health because the Vietnamese striker didn’t quit any football tournament in the last two years.

According to this contract, if Cong Vinh plays well, his contract will be extended until the end of the 2009-2010 football season. Also on August 24, Leixoes acquired a visa to June 30, 2010 for Vinh. He is registered as the club’s player for the Portuguese Football Championship.

After the signing ceremony, Leixoes introduced Cong Vinh to the whole team.

Today, the Vietnamese top striker will have a drilling with Liexoes’ major team under the witness of coach Jose Mota. Vinh will wear the jersey No. 29.

Vinh said his new colleagues are very professional and friendly. He has moved to his new room, which Vinh said is very beautiful.

The striker is very happy to join Leixoes. “That was an unforgettable moment in my life,” Vinh said about the signing ceremony. “The opportunity to play football in Europe has become true. I’m proud to play for Leixoes, a club with a history of over 100 years and one of the strongest teams in Portugal. I will not miss this opportunity and I hope that I will be able to contribute a little to my new team”.

Cong Vinh, 1.73m, 68kg, is the number-one striker in Vietnam at present. He scored 25 goals in 40 matches for the national squad. He was honored as the best player in Vietnam three times, 2004, 2006 and 2007.
