LookAtVietnam – Coach Henrique Calisto has released the list of national players who will convene in early October. The list lacks many of Viet Nam’s most famous football names.

Striker Le Cong Vinh is playing football in Portugal.

Top striker Le Cong Vinh is absent from the list because he is playing for the Portuguese club Leixoes . However, Hoang La, Hoang Max and Huynh Kesley, outstanding foreign players who have been granted with Vietnamese citizenship, are also left out.

The absence of Hoang La, Hoang Max and Huynh Kesley will be considered a big surprise to fans. All were called to the last gathering and played vey well.

Without Cong Vinh, who is in Portugal, and Thanh Binh, who is playing for the U23 team, the national squad has only two established stars, Viet Thang and Quang Hai. The two replacements for Cong Vinh and Thanh Binh are Anh Duc from Binh Duong club and Sy Manh from Ninh Binh club.

Sy Manh is seen as a surprise because he did not perform well at the First Division 2009. He was even let go by T&T Hanoi in March 2009.

Among the the centre halfs, there is a new face, Duc Duong, who played very well for Nam Dinh club at V-League 2009.

Among the full backs, there is only one new member, Tuan Vu from Huda Hue city Club. He joins experienced players like Nhu Thanh, Quang Thanh and Phuoc Tu.

The national squad will gather at the Thanh Long Sports Centre in HCM City on October 1. From October 28 to November 1, they will join the HCM City Football Cup with a Korean student team, the Singaporean national team and the Turmenikistan national squad.

Fullback: Nhu Thanh, Quang Thanh (Binh Duong), Phuoc Tu (The Cong), Viet Cuong (Hoang Anh Gia Lai), Van Phong (Khanh Hoa), Trong Binh (T&T Hanoi), Dinh Luat (Military Zone 4), Tuan Vu (Huda Hue), Minh Duc (Hai Phong), Anh Tuan (The Cong).

Halfbacks: Minh Phuong (Dong Tam Long An), Minh Chau (Hai Phong), Tan Tai (Khanh Hoa), Vu Phong (Binh Duong), Duy Quang (Hoang Anh Gia Lai), Duc Duong (Nam Dinh).

Striker: Viet Thang (Dong Tam), Anh Duc (Binh Duong), Quang Hai (Khanh Hoa) and Sy Manh (Ninh Binh).
