Dang Tran Chinh will take over the reins at HCMC Club from next season following Tuesday’s decision by Binh Duong to release the 2002 championship-winning coach from his duties as technical manager of youth football.

HCMC Club decided to invite Chinh back on Monday after the city’s only team in the V-League was relegated to First Division last month.

Chinh, who coached Saigon Port (now HCMC Club) to the V-League championship in 2002, is expected to return City to Vietnam’s premier league in 2011.

The HCMC Football Federation agreed that Chinh was the right coach for City now, according to the club.

For the past 10 months at Binh Duong, Chinh and eight assistants have been training Binh Duong’s U17, U19 and U21 players.

He also played a pivotal role in TDC Binh Duong’s recent promotion to First Division.
