Can Tho football club president Do Minh Chuong says Lu Dinh Tuan has agreed to coach the First Division side for the 2010 season, though no contract has been signed yet.

His new job will be to get the Mekong Delta side promoted to the V-League in one year.

Can Tho came very close to promotion last season when it finished third in the First Division and had to play off against the third-last team in the premier league. That was Nam Dinh, which eked out a one-nil victory against Can Tho’s eager youngsters.

In preparation for the new season, cash-strapped Can Tho is planning to team up with several local firms to form a joint-stock football company.

Club president Chuong says Can Tho cannot depend on financial support from the state. “If we want to grow, we must become professional. We will establish the joint-stock company soon.”
