Defender Minh Nguyet of the national women’s football team is now in Hanoi’s Bach Mai hospital for treatment after being bitten by a snake.

The rare injury has left her sidelined for two weeks and occurred on September 18 after Nguyet and teammates left their training ground in Tam Dao. Luckily team doctors were on hand to offer first aid and oversee her transfer to Bach Mai hospital.

With doctors ruling out an immediate return her absence will mean problems for Chinese coach Chen Yun Fat.

The women’s national squad is currently in Tam Dao for a ten-day training course. Later they will move to Ha Nam for another ten day spell until October 10. The team will play three friendly matches during this period.

On October 11, the team will go to Quang Ninh to compete in an international women’s football tournament before returning to Hanoi to prepare for a trip to Japan from November 1.

On December 1, the team will go to Laos to participate in the 25th SEA Games.
