Tran Van Quyen won the final stage of the 2009 Mekong Cycling Cup which ended Wednesday in An Giang Province, but Le Ngoc Thanh took the overall yellow jersey.

Quyen of Seventh Military Zone covered the 85km distance from Vi Thanh District in Can Tho City to Long Xuyen Town in An Giang in one hour 54 minutes and 56 seconds at an average speed of over 44 kph, followed by Le Van Duan and Lam Cong Danh.

However, Ngoc Thanh of Saigon Plant Protection Co. was the best cyclist on the six-stage tour, finishing the 600km in 13 hours, 16 minutes and 50 seconds, ahead of Dinh Quoc Viet of Dong Thap.

Bui Minh Thuy of Vinh Long won the blue jersey title for winning the most number of sections in the stages and Seventh Military Zone won the team title.

The 18th edition of this annual sporting event started in Ben Tre Province last Saturday and took the cyclists through nine provinces and Can Tho City.

The competition was organized by An Giang Province and sponsored by Vinaphone.
