LookAtVietnam – The Viet Nam Football Federation announced a list of 30 probables, including 10 new faces, for the national U19 team

New line-up: The Vietnamese U19 team pose for a photo at the Asian U19 Championship held in HCM City last month. The host team finished third.

Former national midfielder Trieu Quang Ha, who replaced Vo Hoang Buu as the head coach, will take charge of the players who will train at the Thanh Long Sport Centre in HCM City.

Ha will have Phan Ba Hung and Quach Ngoc Minh as assistant coaches.

The team has Nguyen Dinh Bao, Nguyen Van Quyet and Le Quoc Phuong, who played very well in the AFF U19 tournament last August, which helped hosts Viet Nam take the bronze medal.

National U23 team head coach Henrique Calisto allowed 18-year-old striker Ha Minh Tuan to return and train with the U19 team.

“We are still missing some players because they are playing in the national U21 tournament,” said Ha, who will be in charge until the end of the Asia U19 qualifying competition. “The young players have a lot of potential and are very good in some positions,” he said.

The team will compete in the pre-SEA Games tournament in Laos from October 2-6 against counterparts from Thailand, Malaysia and hosts Laos.

“Our main goal is to qualify for Asian U19 championship,” the former national winger said. “However, the pre-Sea Games tournament is a very good chance for players because they will play strong opponents.”

“After the pre-Sea Games tournament, the coaches will have three weeks to come up with the style of playing and make adjustments to achieve the best results at the Asian U19 qualifiers.”

From Laos, the team will return to Thanh Long Sports Centre to train until October 30 before flying to Thailand to start the Asian U19 qualifying campaign in November. It has been drawn in the same group with South Korea, Thailand, Laos, Macau and Bangladesh.

“To qualify for the Asia’s U19 finals is a very tough task, but the ball is round and anything can happen. The important thing is that players need to show their fighting spirit and obey the coaching team’s strategies,” said Ha, who is also former coach of V-League team T&T Ha Noi.
