Vietnam defeated Australia in straight games in the 15th Asian Senior Women’s Volleyball Championships at Quan Ngua Sports Hall in Hanoi on Saturday.

Excellent performances by Ngoc Hoa, Dieu Chau, Kim Hue city, Bui Thi Hue and Nguyen Thi Minh helped Vietnam cruise to a 25-11, 25-14, 25-19 victory.

With Ngoc Hoa and Minh attacking aggressively, the home team led 14-6 then 19-10 before wrapping up the first game 25-11.

The visitors fought back in the second game and were on level pegging at 10-10 before the home side resumed the charge to finish 25-14.

Australia put in a stronger showing early in the third game to take a narrow 9-8 lead. Vietnam responded by getting its defense together and stormed to 20-15 before winning the game 25-19 and sealing victory.

All the other matches ended with the same lop-sided score. South Korea hammered Indonesia 3-0 and Thailand thrashed India by the same margin, as did China against Kazakhstan and Iran against Sri Lanka.
