Wushu martial artist Vu Thuy Linh has suffered a spine injury while practicing in Guangxi, China, causing great concern among fans and officials.

Speaking to Thanh Nien on Monday, Linh’s mother Nguyen Phuong Lan said the reigning Southeast Asian Games reigning champion has been receiving medical attention for almost a week but there was no sign of recovery yet.

Linh will have to nurse the injury for a few weeks and it will badly affect her form, Lan said.

Linh went to China with the national wushu squad to train to prepare for the World Wushu Championships in Canada early in October and the third Asian Indoor Games in Ho Chi Minh City later.

She is an ace of the national wushu squad but her injury could keep her away from both events.

Despite her injury, her mother has registered Linh for the AIG III and the 25^th South East Asian Games in Laos in December.
