Vietnam’s best table tennis player Doan Kien Quoc won the men’s singles gold medal on Tuesday at the sixth Francophone Games in Beirut, Lebanon.

The world’s number 175 beat Egyptian Ahmed Ali, ranked 125th in the world, 3- 1 on the final day of the week-long games.

In the women’s singles final, Mai Hoang My Trang of Vietnam had to settle for silver when she lost to Canadian Mo Zhang 1-3.

Quoc and Trang teamed up for the mixed doubles and ended runners-up when they went down to Peter Paul and Mo Zhang of Canada in the final.
