Another local player, Nguyen Ai Ngoc Van, easily beat Natalia Kurkova of Kyrgyzstan 6-1, 6-1 to advance to the girls’ singles second round.

In the boys’ doubles, Nguyen Hoang Thien and Ta Quoc Bao made it to the quarter-final after defeating Ho Huynh Dan Mach and Kazuki Izumi in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Ngoc Tan and Tran Hoang Anh Dang combined well to beat Swedish duo Stefan Lindmark and Dany Stanojevic by a similar score to win a place in the quarter-finals of the boys’ doubles event.
