LookAtVietnam – Viet Nam earned 9.19 points in the nanshi compulsory routine to win silver in the dragon and lion dance at the third Asian Indoor Games.

Macau won gold with 9.27 points while Hong Kong took bronze with 9.15.

This is the first silver medal in the nanshi event.

“I am surprised of this medal because Viet Nam only finished fourth in this event at the second Asian Indoor Games in Macau, China,” head coach of dragon and lion dance Luu Hoan Phi said.

In beishi (northern lion dance) optional routine, Taipei gained gold, Malaysia silver and Thailand bronze.

Dang Dinh Tien, who won the one-cushion carom billiards event at the finals of the Asian Billiards Championships in Seoul last September, easily beat Qatari Bashar Abdulmajeed to reach the men’s 1 cushion carom singles quarter-final.

Cao Thanh Truc was beaten by Cho Jae Ho in the same event.

Chinese Li Hewen won 9-7 against Chan Keng Kwang of Singapore in the men’s 9 ball pool singles to win China’s third gold medal at billiards&snooker.

Taipei’s Lu Hui-chan overcame compatriot Yang Ching-shun 9-7 in the bronze match.

Futsal matches will resume today after a rest day. Japan will face defending champion Thailand in the women’s semi-final while Iran will take on Jordan.

Eight men’s futsal teams will battle it out for a berth in the semi-final. Favourites are defending champion Iran, Thailand, Japan and Jordan.
