Vietnam U19 has scooped a place in the finals of the Asian U19 Football Championship 2010 after Singapore and Hong Kong were defeated by Australia and Japan last night, November 12.

Vietnam played five matches in the qualifier round, with four wins and one draw, earning 12 points, equivalent to South Korea and Thailand. However, Vietnam had the lowest number of goals compared to the two other teams so it failed to obtain an official seat in the finals.

Luckily, the team obtained the final place for best third team to enter the finals. This result was confirmed last night after Australia and Japan trounced Singapore and Hong Kong.

At this moment, 11 teams are named in the finals, including Jordan, Yemen (group A), United Arab Emirates, Syria (group B), Iraq, Saudi Arabia (group C), South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam (group E), China, North Korea (group G).

The results for group D and F are not fixed until November 17 for group F and early December for group D.

U19 Vietnam returned to Vietnam last night.

The finals will take place from November 1 to 16, 2010 but the destination is not fixed.
