Vu got off to a poor start with only four points in six innings, while the Korean dominated with an 18 point lead before the mid-session break.

Vu scored five points in the 12th inning to make the score 10-27, but in the end was unable to pull out the win.

Cho, who averaged 2.35 points per inning, finished the match in 53 minutes to win Korea’s first Billiard’s gold medal at the third Asian Indoor Games.

“Cho had a very good start and the gap that he created after the fifth inning was very difficult for me to narrow,” said Vu during the post-match news conference.

“I knew that I would play under pressure with home absent fans, so I tried to focus on my game and I played well today and won the match,” Cho said. “I also studied about him before the match. I knew him and his game very well”.

The host nation’s medal hopes in the one cushion carom singles lies with Asian champion Dang Dinh Tien and Cao Thanh Truc.

The men’s 3 cushion carom singles bronze went to Umeda Ryuji of Japan, who beat Korean Kim Kyng-roul 40-36 in the third-place match.

In the women’s 6-red Snooker singles, Chen Siming of China beat her compatriot Bi Zhuqing 4-1 in the final to claim China’s second gold medal in Billiards and Snooker at the AIG.

In the third-place match, Nicha Pathom Ekmongkhon of Thailand beat Yu Ching Ching from Hong Kong, China, to win a bronze medal.
