Vietnam’s best badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh was knocked out of the Victor Korea Super Series after losing 0-2 to Chen Jin at the quarterfinals in Seoul on Friday.

China’s number two and the world’s number-five beat Minh, ranked 11th in the world, 21-7 in the first set.

Despite an all-out effort in the second set, Minh fared little better and lost 19-21.

The defeat will make it difficult for Vietnam’s badminton hero to reenter the world’s top 10.

The only Vietnamese badminton player to enter the world’s top 100, Minh moved to seventh place in the world men’s rankings in October, 2009.

However, he dropped to 11th last month after failing to participate in international competitions for several months.
