The Vietnamese American striker on January 19 rejoined Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) after a three-month absence.

According to an anonymous source, originally Lee Nguyen refused to come back to HAGL because of disagreement between the striker and the team about elements of Nguyen’s 3-year contract. Lee asked for higher salary than his current pay of $10,000 per month.

There were also complications and disagreements regarding advertising and image rights between the two sides.

HAGL’s chief Nguyen Tan Anh said that matters between the two sides had been solved. While he was absent from the team, Lee Nguyen still stayed in shape in the US and says he’s fit and ready to go.

With Lee Nguyen’s return, coach Kiatisuk now has his team in places for the upcoming V-League match, which will start on January 30.

HAGL are in training at Military Zone 7 stadium in HCM City. Their first match in the V-League will take place on January 31 against host Khatoco Khanh Hoa.
