After the normal 90 minutes of the Super Cup match in Ninh Binh Province ended 1-1, the winner had to be decided in the penalty shootout, which Da Nang lost 3-4 after their defenders Hai Lam and Phuoc Vinh failed to score.

The trophy and a cash prize of VND150 million was won by Thanh Hoa (formerly The Cong).

In other action, two early matches of the National Cup first round took place in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
