Vietnam’s national football team head coach Henrique Calisto has suggested that Portuguese laws be used to all the terms of an extended contract to be signed soon between him and the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

VFF deputy chairman Le Hung Dung has said he needs to meet Calisto in person to discuss matters before he can make any comment about the situation.

On January 19, VFF and Calisto agreed on most terms of an extended three-year-contract.

Calisto then went home on vacation and was expected to return to Vietnam on February 3. He has not returned yet and the VFF has not been able to contact him.

Meanwhile, it is difficult for VFF to call for sponsorships and make plans for the 2010 season while the contract with Calisto has not been signed.

Calisto is a famous personality in Vietnam now, and according to a marketing expert, sponsorships could fall by as much as 40-50% if VFF was unable to sign the extended contract with the Portuguese coach.

Calisto signed a three-year contract with VFF on March 31, 2007 and helped the national team to the ASEAN Football Federation Cup championship in 2008 and the Under-23 team to the silver medal at the 25^th South East Asian Games in Laos in December 2009.

According to some observers, Calisto is delaying signing the extended contract because a V-League club might offer him better terms.
