VietNamNet Bridge – The national football squad moved up seven grades to the 116th position in FIFA’s January rankings thanks to its good performances that month.

Vietnam ranked second in Southeast Asia, after Thailand (98th), which also climbed up seven places. Meanwhile, most football teams in the region fell in the rankings, such as Indonesia (16 grades down), Singapore (10) and Myanmar (1).

There was were almost no remarkable changes in FIFA rankings for January, except for China, who joined the world’s top ten after passing the qualifying round of the 2011 Asian Cup.

Spain is still on top of the FIFA rankings, followed by Brazil and the Netherlands.
