Shooters blast records at nationals

Make my day: Hoang Xuan Vinh of the Army team took two golds in the men’s individual and team event of 25m pistol at the National Shooting Cup yesterday.

On Sunday, Army team set a new national record in the women’s 10m air pistol event.

In the individual competition, Nguyen Thi Xuan from Quang Ninh took gold with 396 points in 40 shots.

Southeast Asian Games gold medallist Hoang Xuan Vinh, also from the Army, took gold in the men’s 25m pistol after scoring 570 points in 60 shots, edging out archival Nguyen Manh Tuong from the Public Security Ministry, who scored 568 points.

The 36-year-old sharpshooter and his teammates scored a total of 1,682 points in the team 25m pistol competition to add one more gold yesterday.

The Army’s Do Duc Hung also won gold in the men’s 10m mobile target air rifle event, scoring 566 points.

However, it was Ha Noi who won the team gold with a total of 1,643 points.

Meanwhile, the women’s competition was dominated by Dang Hong Ha, Nguyen Thi Le Quyen and Cu Thi Thanh Tu, who won the team gold at the SEA Games in Laos last December.

In the end it was Quyen, from Hai Phong, who took the gold with 366 points. Hanoian Ha finished second with 362 points, while Tu finished third.

Ha Noi won the team event with 1,079 points.
