Dung takes silver at Kuala Lumpur Open; Hien retains chair of National Coaching Council; Vinh Long Cycling Team sign sponsor; Players awarded cash prizes for V-League wins International Grand Master Nguyen Anh Dung bagged a silver medal at the Kuala Lumpur Chess Open on Monday. Dung gained seven points from nine games to finish second, just half of a point less than Chinese Hou Yifan, who won the title. Female chess player Hoang Thi Bao Tram, who also competed in the event, scored only 5.5 points to finish 24th overall. Hien retains chair of National Coaching Council Nguyen Sy Hien was re-elected as chairman of the National Coaching Council after a meeting on Monday, the Viet Nam Football Federation announced. Hien, who was chair last year, will finish his five-year term in 2015. The five-member council is involved in scouting and selecting players and coaches for the national teams. Vinh Long Cycling Team sign sponsor Vinh Long Television cycling team has received a VND2.2 billion (US$114,000) sponsorship deal from the ACD Group for this year’s tournament, the team said. The Mekong Delta-based team will also receive a cash-prize of over VND100 million ($5,000) if the team finish in the top three at the on-going trans-Viet Nam Cycling Race. The team also signed a loan contract with Japanese Igarashi and Nara from South Korea’s Geumsan Ginseng Asian team. In this year’s race, the Viet Nam Cycling Federation has allowed teams to recruit two foreigners. Players awarded cash prizes for V-League wins Players from Ha Noi T&T were awarded prize-money of VND1.4 billion ($72,000) for their two V-League victories, team manager Nguyen Cong Hoi said. The team beat Hai Phong Cement 1-0 and Binh Duong 2-1 to go top in the premiership. The team is attempting to win the championship for the first time in the club’s history to mark the 1,000th anniversary of Ha Noi Capital this year.
