Chinese chess champs kick off; Students compete in Nha Trang; Overseas Vietnamese sports fest

The championship saw many famous chess players competing, such as Ngo Huong Lan, Le Thi Huong, Diep Khai Nguyen and Duong Thanh Danh.

They are competing in men’s and women’s standard and blitz events. The winners will have the opportunity to enter the sixth National Sports Festival in October. The championship will last through April 14.

Students compete in Nha Trang

Over 100 competitors from 14 universities nationwide are taking part in the national table tennis and chess tournaments for students in Nha Trang City.

Nine university teams compete in the table tennis tournament and seven battle it out in chess.

Nha Trang, Quang Trung and Ha Noi Foreign Trade Universities are taking part in the tournaments for the first time.

Both competitions will end on Thursday.

Overseas Vietnamese sports fest

The fourth one-day sports festival for overseas Vietnamese students was held at the Beijing Language and Culture University to provide a chance for foreign students to interact with each other and improve their health.

The festival drew the participation of groups from 16 universities in Beijing to compete in different events such as the 100m and 400m relay race, high-jump and tug of war.
