S Korea hosts carom competition; Norfolk Group hosts golf day; Quang Ninh win U-19 champs; Ha Noi leads wushu tournament

The Vietnamese three cushion billiards team has left for South Korea for the 2010 World Cup in Suwon.

The tournament has attracted 92 cueists from 21 countries and territories, such as Belgium, Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, France, Italy and Germany.

Vietnamese world No 19 Duong Anh Vu is among 20 cueists who were awarded a wild card from the International Carom Federation to play in the final round.

As many as 32 cueists will be selected for the final round, which starts on Friday.

Norfolk Group hosts golf day

The 12th Norfolk Invitational Golf Tournament hosted by the Norfolk Group took place at the Viet Nam Golf & Country Club in HCM City on Saturday, attracting 144 foreigners and local amateur golfers.

Keith Mackenzie (CEO, Mirteq Co, Sydney, Australia), Duong Cong Minh (Chairman, Lien A Bank), and Han Phuc Sinh (Director, Maika Co) were the champions of the Best Net Scores in three divisions.

Best Gross Champion, Dang Hong Anh (General Director, Sacomreal), had a score of 74.

Other prizes included Most Accurate Drive, Nearest to the Pin on all Par 3 holes, the Hardest Trier and an array of lucky draw prizes.

The Norfolk Group will use the proceeds of US$12,000 for the medical examination and treatment programme for the poor in Long An Province, which is carried out by Saigon Entrepreneur newspaper.

Quang Ninh win U-19 champs

Quang Ninh Coal caused an upset in the National U-19 Football Championship at Vinh Stadium on Monday by beating Dong Thap 1-0.

SHB Da Nang and Megastar Nam Dinh shared third place.

Ha Noi leads wushu tournament

Ha Noi topped the leader board at the National Wushu Tournament on Monday with 21 gold medals.

HCM City finished second with seven golds, nine silvers and seven bronzes. The Ministry of Public Security came third with four gold, four silver and five bronze medals.

The tournament attracted nearly 300 martial artists from 31 provinces and cities across the country, who were competing for 46 sets of medals.
