Brazilian-Vietnamese goalkeeper ousted from national squad

How have Brazilian football players come to Vietnam?

Santos (green) is about to leave Dong Tam Long An after nine years.

Fabio Santos joined DTLA in December 2001. Under the leadership of Coach Henrique Calisto, Santos was a pillar for the team and greatly contributed to DTLA’s V-League championship in 2005 and 2006.

In December 2007, Fabio Santos became a Vietnamese citizen, with a new name Phan Van Santos. However, he has not maintained good performance since that time. He was summoned to the national squad to prepare for AFF Cup 2008, but he didn’t play well. Since then, he has not returned to the team. At DTLA, his performance became worse and DTLA recruited a new goalkeeper from Macedonia, Fillip Madjovski, to replace him.

The goalkeeper will join Navibank Saigon, which is considered a good for both Santos and DTLA.
