With 301 points, Thanh Luong won the Golden Ball Award for the first time. Tan Truong (197 points) received the Bronze Ball Award while star striker Cong Vinh, who won three Best Football Player titles, earned only 16 points this year.

Obtaining 75 out of 136 votes, Song Lam Nghe An’s Trong Hoang became the Best Young Player 2009. Thanh Hoa club’s striker Dinh Tung took the second place in this category.

Da Nang’s Gaston Merlo takes the title “Best Foreign Player 2009” with 66 out of 136 votes. He is the Best Scorer of V-League 2009. Hai Phong’s Leandro ranks the second.

In the poll for female footballers, Kim Chi is the winner with 309 points, followed by Kieu Trinh (125) and Dao Thi Mien (108).

The ten nominees for the Goden Ball Award 2009 include Hanoi ACB’s Pham Thanh Luong, Binh Duong’s Nguyen Vu Phong and Huynh Quang Thanh, Ninh Binh’s Vu Nhu Thanh and Mai Tien Thanh, Dong Tam Long An’s Nguyen Minh Phuong, Dong Thap’s Bui Tan Truong, Khanh Hoa’s Le Tan Tai and Nguyen Quang Hai and Hanoi T&T’s Le Cong Vinh.

The list of female nominees includes Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh, Do Thi Ngoc Cham, Bui Thi Tuyet Mai (Hanoi), Doan Thi Kim Chi, Dang Thi Kieu Trinh, Tran Thi Kim Hong (HCM City), Nguyen Thi Mai Lan (Coal and Mineral Group), Dao Thi Mien, Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet (Hoa Hop Hanoi), Van Thi Thanh (Hanoi).

The nominees for the title Outstanding Young Player are Tran Manh Dung (Nam Dinh), Nguyen Trong Hoang (Song Lam Nghe An), Pham Nguyen Sa (Da Nang), Hoang Dinh Tung (Thanh Hoa) and Ha Minh Tuan (Da Nang).

Foreign players Philani (Binh Duong), Leandro (Hai Phong), Gaston Merlo (Da Nang), Lazaro (Military Zone 4) and Timothy (Dong Thap) will compete for “Best Foreign Player.”

Ballots were sent to experts, coaches and sportscasters in March and April. The results was announced this morning, May 7 in HCM City.

The awards ceremony will be held on May 18 at the HCM City Opera House.

Founded by Saigon Giai Phong newspaper in 1995, this has become a prestigious football award in Vietnam.
