Hanoi Festival of Football 2010

The Hanoi Festival of Football 2010 will be held on June 11-12 to raise charitable funds for Bo De Pagoda and Blue Dragon Children’s Fund.

The event, co-organised by the South African Embassy and the British Embassy in Hanoi, and the Al Fresco Group, is part of activities to welcome the 2010 Football World Cup.

The festival will bring Vietnamese football lovers together to watch a live TV broadcast of the opening ceremony of the 2010 Football World Cup and enjoy cooking from different countries.

The highlight of the festival will be a mini-Word Cup Hanoi featuring 20 football teams representing foreign diplomatic delegations in Vietnam.

Vietnam to compete at 2nd Asian Beach Games

Vietnam will take part in ten events at the second Asian Beach Games to be held in Oman in December, 2010, according to the Vietnam Olympic Committee.

The events include beach volleyball, beach soccer, beach handball, beach sepak takraw, bodybuilding, marathon swimming, triathlon, boat racing, beach kabbadi and beach wooden ball.

In September, a steering board will be established for the Vietnamese athletes competing at the Games. The official list of Vietnamese competitors will be announced about one month prior to the Games.

Asian Student Football Tourney held in Belgium

Six student football teams from Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Japan, Thailand and China took part in an Asian Student Football Championship in Belgium on May 22.

The Thai team won the championship with a strong well prepared team. As expected, in such a group of strong teams, including Japan and China, the Vietnamese team did not get very far.

Pham Huy Hoang, the Vietnamese team captain said that the event was helpful for strengthening solidarity amongst Asian students who are studying in Belgium and thanked the overseas Vietnamese businesses and students for their enthusiastic support and spirit during the event.

The annual event has been held ever since 2005. In 2009, the Cambodian team won the championship.

Vietnam suffer first loss at AFC Futsal Championship

The Vietnam national futsal team lost 4-2 to Kyrgyzstan in their second match of the 2010 AFC Futsal Championship which is being held in Uzbekistan.

After the 7-3 victory over the Republic of Korea in the opening match, the Vietnamese players started the game confidently. They created a lot of real chances to score but failed to convert any of them into goals. Besides, Vietnam also lost a man due to injury.

And it was Kyrgyzstan who opened the scoring thanks to Dilshat’s goal in the 4th minute.

After the break, Abek and Nurjan helped Kyrgyzstan widen the gap to 3-0 in the 21st and 25th minutes respectively.

However, Vietnam seemed not to give up after being led 3-0. The hope for equalising was lighted up for Vietnam as Hoang Vinh and Ba Tuan scored two goals to narrow the gap.

In the six final minutes, Vietnam pushed up their form and created many opportunities to score but Lady Luck did not smile on them as Kadyrov from Kyrgyzstan fired in, sealing a 4-2 win over Vietnam.

Hanoi ACB still lead First Division 2010

Despite a 1-1 draw with TDC Binh Duong, Hanoi ACB still dominated the First Division with 29 points after 13 rounds.

Meanwhile, a 3-1 victory over An Giang helped Quang Ninh Coal climb into second.

At Quy Nhon stadium, SQC Binh Dinh crushed Ho Chi Minh City 6-1 to be among top three.

Thanks to the only goal by striker, Din H.Alain, Hai Nhan Tien Giang edged Dong Nai Berjaya at home to escape the relegation zone.

Can Tho lost 2-0 to Quang Nam right at home while Huda Hue city drew 1-1- with Viettel.

As a result, Hanoi ACB still occupy the first position, followed by Quang Ninh Coal and SQC Binh Dinh.

Dong Nai Berjaya, TDC Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City are at the bottom.
