Vietnamese female judo artist Dao Thi Nguyet was defeated in the final match against a Mongolian rival for women’s under 57kg category at the Young Asian Judo Championship 2010 in Thailand from April 29 to May 2 and took the silver medal.
The event attracted nearly 300 Judo artists from 18 countries and territories, including the top countries for judo like China, Japan and South Korea.
Dao Thi Nguyet was the only Vietnamese Judo artist attending the competition for young adult athletes. Three Judo artists from HCM City, named Vu Hoang Ngoc Bich, 17, Cao Minh Thai, 17, and Cao Minh Trung, 14 participated in the competition for teens.
While the three teenage artists couldn’t pass the qualifier round, Dao Thi Nguyet trounced competitors from Lebanon, Laos and India to enter the final round for women’s under 57kg category.
In the final match, Nguyet faced off against her Mongolian rival but the referee took away some points for being lazy to attack. Dao Thi Nguyet fought well and was awarded the silver medal.
