Two athletics coaches have been selected to go on a training course in Germany for 13 months.

Two athletics coaches, Nguyen Dang Truong from the Ministry of Public Security and Le Cong Huu from Binh Duong Provincial People’s Committee have been selected to go on a training course in Germany for 13 months.

They were chosen under a cooperation agreement on developing athletics in Vietnam reached between the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the German Federal Foreign Office.

Professor Uwe Freimuth, a specialist from the German Athletics Federation, said on June 3 that both trainees will attend the training course with 30 others from around the world. They will study the German language from June-September this year at the Johannes-Guttenberg and then begin their training on July 31, 2011.

The professor confirmed that both Vietnamese coaches will learn athletics skill in training sciences, sports health, nutrients, physiology and management from German specialists.

Born in 1979, Nguyen Dang Truong is now the coach of the country’s young athletes in the 400m running event. Some of his protégés, including Ding Cong Luc, Ho Ngoc Cuong, Khuat Huu Duy and Do Thi Dien have won top level prizes in domestic and international athletics tournaments.

His colleague, Le Cong Huu trained 6 athletes who qualified for national titles in the short and medium distance running and long jump and one of them won the silver medal in the 1,500m event at the 2009 National Athletics Championships.
