The largest leather ball ever to be made in Vietnam was unveiled at the De Nhat Phan Khang shopping centre in Ho Chi Minh City on June 1.

The largest leather ball ever to be made in Vietnam was unveiled at the De Nhat Phan Khang shopping centre in Ho Chi Minh City on June 1.

The ball, which is 6.41m in diameter, weighs 534kg and was made in 45 days, has been officially recognised by Vietnam’s Guinness Records Centre as the largest leather ball in the country.

It was made at the initiative of the shopping centre’s staff who wanted to show international friends how much the Vietnamese people love football.

To mark the imminent beginning of the 2010 World Cup, the shopping centre will be running several promotional programmes for the country’s soccer fans as well as sponsoring a live television commentary for the south-eastern province of Dong Nai.(
