Surgeons planned a one hour operation, but the ligament was torn long ago, so they needed more time.

Doctors report that the operation went well and the Vietnamese footballer would be under doctors’ care for at least three days.

After that, physical therapy experts will set up a recovery program for Cong Vinh within 75 days in Portugal.

The cost of Cong Vinh’s operation is 35,000 euros, paid by his club, T&T Hanoi.

Doctor Jose Carlo, who headed Cong Vinh’s operation, confirmed that the striker still have an opportunity to play for the national football squad at the AFF 2010 tournament if the recovery program is implemented as planned.
