HCM City consolidate top post; Youth Taekwondo Champs under way in Phu Yen; 70 dancers attends National Dance Sport Festival in Hanoi HCM City consolidate top post With 13 points after six rounds, Ho Chi Minh City occupied the first position of the 2010 National Women’s Football Championship. In the first match of the second-leg held at Thong Nhat stadium on June 9, Ho Chi Minh City earned three points after beating Thai Nguyen 2-0. Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet, Vu Thi Huyen Ninh and Nguyen Thi Muon helped Hanoi Trang An I trounce Hanoi Trang An II 3-0. Vietnam Coal and Mineral were held to a goaless draw by Phong Phu Ha Nam. As a result, Ho Chi Minh City stand firmly at top, followed by Hanoi Trang An I and Vietnam Coal and Mineral with 12 points and 9 points respectively. Thai Nguyen and Hanoi Trang An II are at bottom. Youth Taekwondo Champs under way in Phu Yen 417 martial artists in 2 age groups (12-14 and 15-17 years) from 33 provinces, and Military Club and Public Security Clubs across the country will compete in 13 weight categories for women and 14 weight categories for men. In the women’s 46kg, 49kg and 68kg combat events the gold medals went to Dao Thi Tuoi from Hanoi, Truong Thi Nho from Phu Yen and Vo Thi Kim Ngan from An Giang. Tran Hai Nam from Tien Giang, Duong Minh Tu from Ho Chi Minh City and Vu Duc Hai from Hanoi also bagged gold medals in the men’s 51kg, 55kg and over 78kg combat events. The Hanoi team led in the performance events with 4 golds and 1 bronze, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with 3 golds and two bronzes, and Binh Thuan with 2 golds, 2 silvers and 2 bronzes. After the first day of the championships, Hanoi placed first in the medal tally with 6 golds and 1 bronze. Ho Chi Minh City ranked second with 4 golds, 2 silvers and 3 bronzes while Binh Thuan was the third with 2 golds, 2 silvers and 2 bronzes. 70 dancers attends National Dance Sport Festival in Hanoi The dancers will be divided into 3 different age groups and compete in 2 main events namely Latin: Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Pasodoble, and Jive and Standard: Tango, Waltz, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz and Slow Foxtrot. The Festival provides an excellent opportunity for Vietnam to develop this kind of sport and help dancers to prepare for upcoming international and domestic competitions.
