The tournament, the third time, will take place at the Phu Tho Sports House on October 1-2.

The first Heineken Stars in 2006 attracted four international players, including: Carlos Moya, Nicolas Kiefer, Rainer Schuettler and former world champion Juan Carlos Ferrero. After Kiefer was injured, three remaining players played in a round-robin. German player Schuettler won the championship, followed by Juan Carlos Ferrero and Carlos Moya.

The second tournament in 2008 also had the participation of four stars: Jo Wilfried Tsonga, Tomas Berdych, Robin Soderling and Mardy Fish. Tsonga was the champion after defeating Soderling.

This year, David Nalbandian (Argentina), Tommy Haas (Germany), Sam Querrey (USA) and Robby Ginepri (USA) will compete for the championship.

Tommy Haas, 32, is a German and recently naturalized American professional tennis player who reached a career-high ranking of world No.2 on May 13, 2002.

Haas is an all-court all-around player with a very versatile style. He has solid ground strokes off both sides and is also a steady volleyer with the ability to transition to the net easily. Unlike many top pros, he doesn’t specialize in any particular playing style, but adapts his game to counter his opponent’s style or the court surface. His best weapon is a powerful single-handed backhand, which is among the best in the game. His forehand is also a major weapon.

David Pablo Nalbandian, 28, is an Argentine professional tennis player, former World No. 3, currently ranked 37th in the world as of August 16, 2010. He was runner up in the 2002 Wimbledon Championships and winner of the Tennis Masters Cup in 2005.

Nalbandian is an all-court player and is known as one of the cleanest ball strikers in the sport. He uses powerfully struck, sharply accurate ground strokes which have very low error-percentage. His signature play is the wide drive that swings out of court on both sides with low spins. He is able to take high balls on the backhand and forehand side and return them with acute angles and low trajectories and uses these skills to great intelligence.

Sam Austin Querrey, 22, is a professional American tennis player. As of August 2010, he is the fourth-highest ranked American. His career high rank was No. 19, achieved on July 5, 2010. His height allows him to play with a strong serve and forehand. Querrey holds the record for most consecutive service aces since the ATP began keeping records of those statistics, with 10 in a 2007 match against James Blake.

Querrey possesses a huge serve, one of the best in today’s game. He also has a strong forehand and a good backhand. He is an offensive baseliner and constructs points well, often not approaching the net unless it’s to finish the point.

Robby Ginepri, 27, currently ranks the 114th on ATP rankings. He became a professional tennis player in 2001. He ranked the world No. 15 in 2005.
