VietNamNet Bridge – The captain of the Thai national volleyball team Wanchai Tabwises will become a member of Vietnam’s Duc Long Military Zone 5 club as of October 3.

Wanchai Tabwises (red) played in Vietnam last year.

Wanchai Tabwises, 24, 1.86m, has become a member of the Vietnamese club since July 2010 under a contract signed in December 2009 in Bangkok. Under this contract, the Thai star will play for Duc Long Military Zone 5 club for five seasons. However, he couldn’t go to Vietnam because of his contract with a club in Bahrain.

At the 2005 Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam, Wanchai Tabwises was a member of the Thai national team, even though he was only 16. At 2009 SEA Games, he was the team captain.

This will be his second time in Vietnam. He played for the Thep Viet HCM City club last year.

Wanchai will arrive in Hanoi on October 3. He will go to Ninh Binh province to practice before joining the Vietnam National Volleyball Championship.

This tournament has 12 male and 12 female teams. They will be divided into two groups to play in a round robin. In the first leg in Dak Lak and Gia Lai provinces, Duc Long Military Zone 5 is in group B with Trang An Ninh Binh, The Cong, Military Zone 9, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group and Military Zone 7 clubs.

Duc Long Military Zone 5 club also recruits captain Nguyen Van Toai of Thep Viet HCM City club. The club hopes to improve its position at the second leg of the National Volleyball Championship in Hai Duong and Ninh Binh province from October 5-12.
