At the same time, midfielders Duc Duong (Hai Phong Cement) and Duoc Em (Dong Thap) asked to withdraw from the national football squad due to personal reasons. Coach Henrique Calisto was very angry with these players and asked them to submit their petition to the Vietnam Football Federation to explain why they asked to leave the national team.

Calisto said that Duc Duong and Duoc Em’s attitude is unprofessional and the national team does not need players who are not willing to devote themselves to their country.

Despite losing two midfielders while midfielder Trong Hoang hasn’t join the team yet, the coach has not called up more midfielders. The team is drilling with 25 players.

Calisto confirmed that he would never call up Duc Duong and Duoc Em to the national squad while he is still the head coach. In 2008 the coach made a similar decision against goalkeeper The Anh (Binh Duong club) after The Anh withdrew from the national team for personal reasons.

While the team was facing problems related to personnel, Van Quyen and Sy Cuong had to temporarily stop drilling due to mild injuries. Doctors said they will be back very soon.

At the same time, the U23 national squad faces similar problems. Up to four players will join the team late and four others were injured.

The team will go to India to play a friendly match against the Indian U23 team on September 14, then return to HCM City to prepare for the Thang Long-Hanoi Cup at the Thong Nhat Stadium from September 28 to October 2.
