Huong takes bronze in women’s 100m at Asian Games

Vietnam’s sprint queen Vu Thi Huong won the bronze medal in the women’s 100 meter race at the 16th Asian Games 2010 in Guangzhou, China on Monday.

Huong, Southeast Asian champion in the 100m and 200m categories, finished Third—11 seconds 43 behind champion Fukushima Chisato of Japan (11 seconds 33) and silver medalist Khubbieva Guzel of Uzbekistan.

Le Ngoc Phuong (also of Vietnam) finished last at 11 seconds 76.

Speaking after receiving the bronze medal, Huong said, “The result today was not my personal best but it is not easy to win a medal at an Asian competition. This is my first medal at an Asian Games contest, which means a great deal to me.”
