FIFA January ranking, Vietnam ahead of Southeast Asian champion

In the first
month of 2011, Vietnam ranks higher than Singapore,136th on FIFA
ranking.

In Southeast Asia, Thailand
is still at the top, ranking 119th, followed by Vietnam at 136th though Thailand couldn’t enter the semi-final of the
regional football cup 2010 (AFF Cup 2010) and Vietnam only finished third.

With an
additional 17 points after AFF Cup 2010, the new regional champion Malaysia still ranks behind Vietnam, at 142nd while Singapore
falls to 139th.

The world
champion Spain still
ranks first in FIFA ranking, followed by
the Netherlands.
Croatia
unexpectedly claims ninth position. Other places in the top ten don’t change.

In the top
100, China
claims eight grades up to stand at 79th. Qatar goes up nine grades, at 105th.
They see the most impressive progress in the ranking this month.

The ongoing
Asian Cup 2011 in Qatar
will make big changes in the ranking of next month.
