VietNamNet Bridge – The national television
broadcaster VTV and state-owned digital broadcaster VTC have reached agreement
with private group AVG on the copyright of the upcoming V-League.

It is said that VTV and VCTV (Vietnam Cable
Television) will buy up to three matches/day of V-League at the price of VND40
million ($2000)/match. One game will be aired on VTV3 and the two remaining
games will be broadcasted on VCTV.

VCTV has made public its schedule for
V-League 2011. This broadcaster will air live at least two games in the fourth
and the seventh rounds.

Digital broadcaster VTC has also signed a
contract with AVG. Director of VTC3 channel Vu Quang Huy said that V-League
2011 will be aired live on both the paid-channel VTC3 and free channel VTC7.

Huy said VTC plans to air live two games a
round. He didn’t disclose the fee that VTC has to pay AVG, but in case VTC and VTV want to air live the
same games VTC would ask AVG to hold a meeting among broadcasters.

Huy said that when necessary VTC will
cooperate with AVG and even VTV and to
reach their highest common priority: serving the audience.

VTC will announce the broadcast schedule
for V-League 2011 this week because the event will start on January 22.

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has
sold the television copyright of the V-League to AVG, a private group, for 20
years at the price of VND6 billion ($3 million) for the first year.

AVG holds the broadcast right but it
doesn’t have its own TV channels yet so if AVG doesn’t reach agreements with
other broadcasters, Vietnamese fans may lose the chance to enjoy the event.

In mid-December, AVG announced it would not
collect copyright fees of V-League in the first year – 2011. However, in
another announcement, it divided partners into three groups (partners that want
to purchase the broadcast right, those that air the event free of charge and
those that want to cooperate with AVG in production) to collect copyright fees.
