Vietnam’s star badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh lost in straight sets to China’s number one player Lin Dan in the quarterfinals of the All England Open Badminton Championships in Birmingham Friday.

World number 8 Tien Minh fought hard and was almost on equal terms with Lin Dan in the first set before the third ranked Chinese took the set 21-17.

But in the second set, Tien Minh, who is the only Vietnamese to ever enter the world top 100, looked fatigued and was no match for his Chinese rival, and went on to lose the set 11-21.

The result was not a catastrophe for Minh, as Lin Dan looks strong enough to win a record fifth All England Open title.
