Half-back Minh Phuong was the winner in the selection of the best football player in Vietnam in 2010, as expected by experts. This is the first time Minh Phuong receiving the award.

The award ceremony took place in the morning of May 12, at HCM City’s Ben Thanh Theater. With 387 points, Minh Phuong passed half-back Pham Thanh Luong, the Golden Ball Award 2009 winner (132 points) and half-back, Nguyen Vu Phong (89 points) to take the award. All three players were the keys of the national team at last year’s tournaments.

Minh Phuong stated to leave the national team after the ASEAN Football Cup (AFF Cup) 2010. He played 73 matches for the national squad. He is currently a player of the Da Nang FC, after a long time playing for Dong Tam Long An.

Minh Phuong has won many prizes with the national squad and local clubs: AFF Cup 2008 championship, bronze medal at the Southeast Asian Championship 2007, Vietnam football championship 2001-2002 with Saigon Port FC, V-League 2005-2006 championship with Dong Tam Long An. He was the Silver Ball Award 2006 winner.

Minh Phuong and Kim Hong received the Golden Ball Awards 2011.

Half-back Tran Thi Kim Hong from HCM City FC won the Golden Ball Award for women, with 283 points. Goalkeeper Kieu Trung, also from the HCM City FC, took the Silver Ball Award (258 points) and the Bronze Ball Award belonged to Ngoc Anh from the Hanoi FC (140 points).

Nguyen Van Quyet from Hanoi T&T FC was presented the Best Young Player title.

The Best Foreign Player title went to striker Samson Kayode from the Dong Thap FC.

Actor Huy Khanh and model Truc Diem announced the name of the men’s Golden Ball Award winner.

“I’m very happy to win this noble title. I would like to thank my teammates

at my former club Dong Tam and my current team Da Nang and my fans.

I have left the national team, but this title is the driving force for me to devote

my remaining time of football career to my club,” said Minh Phuong.

Singer Phuong Trinh and comedian Nhat Cuong announced the names

of the women’s Gold, Silver and Bronze Ball Awards.

Halfback Kim Hong received the Golden Ball Award with a wound on her knee

which she caught at the recent national championship. “I cannot believe that I

can win the Golden Ball Award this year. My biggest dream has become reality.

Thank you fans and to those who voted for me. I wish to recover quickly from wounds

Actress Le Khanh and comedian Tan Beo announced the name of the best young player.

Nguyen Van Quyet from Hanoi T&T was very shy. “I’m very surprise to become

the best young player of Vietnam in 2010. Actually, there are many players who are better

deserved this title than me. But this title will be the motive force to make me further grow

up and devote to Vietnam’s football,” he said.

Model Duc Tien and singer Ngan Khanh called the name of the

best foreign player – striker Samson of Dong Thap FC.

Samson overcame V-League best scorer Merlo of Da Nang FC to win this title.
